Day 19

We are back in France! After a hectic couple of days in Barcelona for my birthday we have returned to the slower pace of the South of France. We are currently near Argeles-sur-Mer but have yet to go to the beach as yesterday and today have been spent doing chores and camper maintenance.

The drive from Barcelona back into France wasn't too bad, but the drive there proved to be rather difficult for the camper. The main road from France through Andorra and into Spain was shut so the camper was made to climb nearly 1900ft up the Pyrenees in order to cross the border into Spain. He struggled lots, and the temperature of the engine got so hot that the coolant boiled, so we had to wait for him to cool down and try again. Finally though. we made it into Spain, in time for my birthday too! 

Initially, Barcelona was not what I was expecting, but after exploring the city a little more, and looking past the construction work that seemed to be taking place almost everywhere, we found some beautiful places. We spent most of the day looking at Gaudi's work, visiting the Sagrada Familia, Güell Park and Casa Batlló. 

For lunch, as it was my 18th, Tom took me out for lunch and we both had some traditional Spanish food. After that we wandered around Barcelona a little more, and went to the best ice cream parlour in Barca according to trip advisor. It was indeed excellent! I chose peanut butter ice cream and it was so tasty. 

Finally, we went to watch the magic fountains of Montjuïc. They were beautiful. It was the perfect end to my birthday. 

Thankyou everyone for the cards and presents. I have so much Hello Kitty and My Little Pony stuff, everyone knows me so well. So much for being 18 and a mature adult! 

Excited to now be able to legally do all the things I've been doing since I was about 15... Here's to adulthood.
