Day 27

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, have barely had internet. Currently, we are on our way to Marseille to enjoy some more sun, sea and sand!

The last week or so have been spent travelling around the south coast of France, and the weather has been brilliant. We've been eating well, enjoying great weather, and have had the beach at our doorstep nearly every day.

We stayed in a little town called valras plage after we left argeles, and parked right opposite the small harbour on the other side of the river leading to the sea.

On Friday, we had a little change from the seaside, and travelled to a small town called Remoulins for 2 nights. The reason for this is that Remoulins is situated close to the Pont du Gard, a large roman aqueduct we planned to go and see. On Saturday morning we got up early and drove to the aqueduct. It was €18 per car to park and get entry to the area surrounding the aqueduct.
The aqueduct was enormous, and the river running underneath was exceptionally clear. We spent most of the day sitting down by the river right next to the aqueduct, and the rest of it climbing up the hill next to the aqueduct in order to get a better view.

After the Pont du Gard, we travelled back down to the coast again, but this time out destination was a little different to what we were used to.

We drove to plage de piemanson, a beach that is situated in the camargue region. On this beach, there were at least 600 campers parked on the sand for the night. Campers are allowed to park as close to the sea as they like as the sand is particularly hard and the vehicles don't sink. This is the view we woke up to this morning.

The area of the camargue is a natural park, and is mostly marsh land. Many people are attracted to the area because of the wildlife. I saw flamingoes in the wild!

Today we are travelling to Marseille, where we will stay for a couple of days. We plan to visit the Calanque de Sugition, a particularly famous area in Marseille of blue sea, sky and lots of cliffs that are brilliant to jump off! It will also be nice to see a bit of the city too as it is one of the biggest in France.

Can't believe we've been away nearly a month now. My cooking skills have improved considerably, last night I even made paella! Very excited for the rest of the trip, it's been incredible so far.
